Information about our mobile radiation protection barriers

Radiation Protection Barriers can be used in any setting to protect a person from scatter radiation during imaging.  Most often they are used in imaging settings without a protective booth or where the radiation technologist must remain close to the patient.

The barriers can be cleaned with any common medical sanitizing agent.  The most commonly used are peroxide and sodium hypochlorite cleaners.

Barriers have four casters, two fixed and two locking.  Simply use your foot to press the locking mechanism to lock or free the locking casters.

Our barriers are made to last forever. The powder-coated steel frame is precision TIG welded for years of trouble-free service. The body panel is covered in high density plastic for durability, is dent-resistant and will not fade, discolor, or become brittle.  We use premium hospital-grade casters for a long service life. Each 5” heavy-duty, twin-wheel caster has a 300 lb. rating.

Our most common small mobile barrier is 30” (75cm) wide by 74” (185cm) tall.  Our widest mobile barrier is 76” (190cm) wide.

For scatter radiation protection for simple medical or dental x-rays, 0.5 mm Pb is typically all that is required.  However, in many imaging settings, 1.6mm or 1/16” Pb protection level is the standard.  Please check with your radiologist or RSO to make sure you order the correct version.
