Adhesive-lined Lead-free Rubber Radiation Shielding for Gamma and Xray Tube Sources to 160 kVp
Flexible lead-free x-ray protective material with Pressure Sensitive Adhesive backing.
XRC449 series radiation shielding typically applied in shielding of equipment used in radiology settings or for cabinet xray systems used in NDT, food or security applications. Used for attenuation of lower energy gamma ( under 100 keV) or xray radiation ( under 160 kVp ).

Typical panel sizes for adhesive backed shielding:
- Width of flexible sheets are typically 600mm or 24" width for easy shipping, handling and application.
- Lead equivalent thicknesses as low as 0.125mm Pb up to 6mm Pb or higher.
- Common Shielding equivalents of 1/32", 1/16", 3/32", and 1/8" to match typical specifications by radiation physicists.
- Optionally available with backing to stainless steel, aluminum or FR Plastic.
Adhesive Properties
- Special acrylic adhesive with excellent chemical resistance and bond strength even at elevated temperatures.
- Long Term Temperature Resistance -40 °C to 120 °C
- Bonds well to a wide variety of plastics, powder coatings and metals.
Peel Adhesion by ASTM D3330:
- 16.4 N/cm Stainless Steel
- 15.8 N/cm Painted Metal
- 9.3 N/cm ABS
- 9.8 N/cm Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
- 10.0 N/cm Aluminum
Tested and approved for application to most surfaces:
- Metals: Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Galvanized
- Coated Metals: Primed, Powder Coated.
- Wall and Door Surfaces: Wood, Laminates, Primed Drywall
- Most Plastics: Note low surface energy plastics may require special preparation.
Not recommended for:
- Vinyl or other surfaces with plasticizers. Surface may need to be tested or may require special preparation. Please ask our technical team about your specific surface.
- Long-term exposure outdoors to direct sunlight or elements. Lifetime cannot be guaranteed in these unpredictable environments.
- High service temperatures above 200 F or applications where submersed in liquids.

Product Options and Formats
All product is made to order to ensure quality of the adhesive material. Standard panel sizes are 600mm by 1200mm (2 ft x 4 ft). Product is available in precut panels, and custom cut shapes.
Lead-Free Certification
This product is compliant with Directive 2011/65/EU of the European Parliament and the Council of 8 June 2011 for Restrictions of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and that the maximum concentration values by weight for lead, hexavalent chromium, cadmium, mercury, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenylethers are in compliance.
